Does working on hands-on construction projects sound fun?
If so, the Riverside HS Construction/Architecture CTE program is a fit for you! In this program, you will learn about the architectural design process and build small construction projects. You will learn about the various careers in the trades, architecture, and construction management. This is a hands-on program where students gain communication and teamwork skills. CTE classes meet graduation requirements and help you gain skills for various careers in construction/architecture. Even if you do not end up in this exact career path, you will gain valuable skills that transfer to the path you end up choosing. Participating in a CTE program looks great on your resume and on college applications.How to join the program: When you select your elective class(es) choose one of the introductory class(es) to see if it is a fit for you. If you like the class, then you can take the intermediate and advanced classes throughout high school. Students who complete 3 credits in the Construction/Architecture CTE program receive a cord at graduation.
What is a construction pre-apprenticeship certificate?
This program is in the process of being registered with the Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI) as a construction pre-apprenticeship program. If approved by BOLI, students in this program can select to be a construction pre-apprentice. Students who meet specific requirements can earn a pre-apprenticeship certificate in healthcare. construction pre-apprentice. Students who take 3 credits in this program can earn a pre-apprenticeship certificate in construction (pending Bureau of Labor and Industries Approval). Students who graduate with a pre-apprenticeship certificate are more competitive applicants when applying to the NW College of Construction Apprenticeship program. Apprenticeship after high school is a great way to earn money while learning on the job. This can help jumpstart your career in construction with no debt.The pre-apprenticeship program made possible by a Oregon Department of Education CTE Revitalization grant.
